Armed, shooting at drones: 100 officers responded to Mississippi standoff, manhunt

A new study shows states with more gun owners have higher numbers of partners and family members killing each other in the home. Veuer’s Chandra Lanier has the story.

A man who authorities say barricaded himself inside a home, made threats against neighbors and police, shot at drones with an assault rifle and eluded some 100 law enforcement officers has been charged with aggravated assault on a police officer.

Wayne County Sheriff Jody Ashley said, in light of the Walmart shooting in Southaven that claimed the life of two store employees and injured an officer, and mass shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, over the weekend, he wanted to take every precaution possible. Consequently, he called in multiple agencies  during the last week’s standoff and ensuing manhunt.
