PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A Redmond man wanted for a felony parole violation was arrested Friday afternoon when he surrendered to authorities in an arrest caught on camera by a Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office drone.
Ryan Nathaniel Fischer-Salt was in a Tumalo bar around 4:45 p.m. when deputies learned he was there. Thursday night he fled from an unrelated traffic stop, officials said.
The 38-year-old fled the bar before deputies arrived. Two separate K9 teams helped track his movement along with tips from citizens in the area. Around 5:30 p.m., he was spotted crossing Hwy 20.
As deputies contained the area and the K9 teams closed in, the drone was launched and spotted Fischer-Salt in the Deschutes River. The drone followed him as he crossed the river and surrendered without incident to deputies on the banks.
He was taken to the Deschutes County Jail on his outstanding warrant.
