Memorial Villages residents could see fewer traffic problems and better emergency response during disasters because their police department is now using drones.
The Memorial Villages Police Department received two drones about six weeks ago as a donation from the MVPD Police Foundation. The aerial technology is helping to manage traffic, solve crimes and find missing persons.

MVPD Chief Ray Schultz said he really started to see the value of drones, or unmanned aerial vehicles, last year during Harvey when Police Officer and UAV Pilot Larry Boggus brought his personal drone to work.
“It was a huge asset for us because very quickly we were able to see the amount of houses that were damaged,” Schultz said. “We were also able to determine which roads were impassable, so we didn’t send equipment down roads they couldn’t get out of, which is important especially
