Drones give Panchkula police an eye in the sky

PANCHKULA: Panchkula police will now have an eye in the sky as the department has been provided with two drone cameras under phase-II of the city surveillance project.

The drone cameras were launched on Tuesday by Panchkula MLA Gian Chand Gupta. The local administration and police will use these during public eventsdemonstrations. For the purpose, a control room will be set up at Sector 14 police station along with field control rooms at Pinjore, Kalka, Raipur Rani and Barwala for which 35-km underground optical fibre cable will be laid to connect all locations.

Administrator of Panchkula municipal corporation Rajesh Jogpal said that a total of 275 high definition CCTV cameras would be installed at 30 locations under the city surveillance project. As many as 15 additional cameras with automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) are being installed at entry points of the Panchkula district.
