Drone photo captures great white shark swimming next to paddle boarder off Nauset Beach

An unsuspecting paddle boarder floated mere feet away from a  great white shark off Nauset Beach Sunday morning, and he only realized his close encounter thanks to local photographer Cody DeGroff. 

Photos captured on Sunday by DeGroff, a wildlife photographer on Cape Cod,  reveal a Hingham resident paddle boarding alongside a white shark hidden under the surface. The images, shot with a drone camera, were shared by the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy on Monday. 

According to the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy, the paddle boarder — identified by the Cape Cod Times as Hingham resident, 54-year-old Roger Freeman — had no idea the shark was even there.
