The Rome Police Department’s new aerial drone will go on live display at the 8th annual Law Enforcement Day celebration at Franklyn’s Field on Wednesday, July 18.
The event is free and open to the public. It will take place from 4 to 10 p.m. There will be a free fireworks show at dusk.
Law Enforcement Day features a wide array of law enforcement exhibits and demonstrations. These will include a live less-than-lethal weapons display, wherein the new police recruits will go through their TASER training. All city police officers must themselves be shot with a TASER before they can carry the weapon.
Police agencies from across the county will also show off vehicles and equipment.
“It’s a chance for us to put a face with law enforcement,” said Capt. Cheyenne D. Schoff, who is organizing the event.
“It’s a chance to show we’re not just the guys driving around in the patrol cars. We’re
