Drone cameras, which have become an essential component in law and order maintenance, will soon find greater use in the operations of the Kerala Police.
Each of the police ranges – Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kannur – will soon be allocated drones that will enhance surveillance.
The police, which have found the sole drone camera in its inventory to be highly useful, are in their final-phase steps of procuring three others.
While three companies had submitted bids for the tender process, their products were deployed for technical evaluation and live demonstration during the recent Attukal Pongala at the State capital.
Two companies have qualified for the final round of the process.
Following the opening of the financial bids, the order will be placed on the basis of the rates quoted, according to Additional Assistant Inspector General Hari Shankar, who handled the responsibilities of modernisation and procurement at the Police Headquarters.
