Barboursville police blotter: Toys R Us drone theft ends in police chase

BARBOURSVILLE – The following information was provided by reports from the Barboursville Police Department:

PURSUIT: Three different agencies tracked a fugitive from the Huntington Mall to Guyandotte after police caught him with four drones stolen from Toys R Us following a pursuit Tuesday morning on W.Va. 2 toward Huntington.

Joseph Daunte Whaley, 27, of Huntington, is charged with receiving/transferring stolen property, fleeing on foot, possession of a controlled substance, being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm and being a fugitive from justice, according to booking records from Western Regional Jail.

An unknown man later identified as Whaley was spotted carrying two drones, still in their anti-theft devices, while walking near the Huntington Mall McDonald’s around 11:56 a.m. Tuesday, reports state.
