July 4th fireworks are ready for their close-up, thanks to drone lovers – Press

Drone operators who arm their unmanned aerial vehicles with video cameras are always seeking new metaphorical heights: package delivery, search-and-rescue, filming the Northern Lights.

Joe Blanquel, a drone hobbyist and expert on radio-controlled vehicles at HobbyTown USA in Corona, tells the story of the fisherman who made a catch by hooking his line to a drone and depositing the line in the middle of a school of tuna hundreds of feet away.

“I think that’s pretty cool. That shows what they are capable of,” said Blanquel, who said he enjoys filming sunsets.
