Here’s the journal entry feds say accused terrorist wrote plotting attack

Chilling references to bombing plots and the al-Qaeda and ISIS leaders who seemed to inspired them can be found in a letter written by accused bomber Ahmad Khan Rahimi’s, federal authorities say. Now, prosecutors plan to introduce what they say are the New Jersey man’s own words — seized during his arrest — as evidence in his terrorism trial this fall.

Rahimi, of Elizabeth, is scheduled to stand trial in Manhattan federal court in October on an indictment for a bombing in the city’s Chelsea neighborhood that injured 30 people on Sept. 17. Authorities have said he also planted a homemade explosive device in a garbage can earlier that day in Seaside Park, along the route of a planned military 5K run, as well another  device discovered near the Elizabeth train station on Sept. 18 that detonated when a police bomb squad robot tried to examine it.
